I'm so sorry to hear of the flood in Richwood. Every current Richwooder is in my thoughts and prayers. My mother works at the Nursing home in town and was concerned the state would close down the nursing home because of the flood. Anybody have any info on that? I haven't been able to get through to Richwood by phone since Thursday. Anyhow... I miss Richwood and can't wait to come for a visit.

I am so sorry it took the flood for me to visit your site. The pictures were very sad. My parents have pictures of a flood that took place in Richwood in the early 1900's and it looks just as devastating now as then. You have developed a wonderful site that I will visit often. I can go "home" now whenever I want.

Hi, I grew up in Richwood. One of the Bennett Girls from 'UP 'ROUND THE RIVER'. I've lived in Montana for 35 years, but have made it home almost every summer to enjoy the hills, and up round the river again. My younger sister, Linda, has moved back there, and at the moment is swinging a shovel to try to clear all the mud from the flood of this past week. (NOV 19, 2003) (Go Linda!) This is a reply to Julie Gertz of Ohio. Your grandfather and my father are first cousins. My aunt Edna says he was her favorite cousin. His mother, Aunt Lou, was a favorite among her nieces and nephews. I grew up hearing many wonderful stories about her. Her first marriage was to a Lucas who would have been his father. Her second marriage was to George Cutlip in Richwood. My grandmother, Maggie Shaver McCroskey, was her sister. We have lots of genealogy info that we have been gathering, please email. Lou Lucas and my grandmother were sisters. If you are interested in genealogy, we have lots of info for you. We have traced this side of the family back to Jamestown in 1607. Your great grandmother, Lou was a favorite among her nieces and nephews, we grew up hearing many wonderful stories about her.

I was saddened to learn of the Flood in Richwood and to just now look as these pictures....it brought back memories of the Flood in the 50's when I lived there....it was terrible then so I can imagine what it's like today. I pray for everyone in Richwood.

Richwood is home to many of my family members. (I have probably visited the Richwood area every year of my life.) And even lived up Little Laurel Rd. as a young child, before moving to Ravenswood and then Warren, Ohio. I have never heard of a town that has so many reunions and home comings. Have you??? I think it's great!!! So until the next KEFFER REUNION or HART REUNION , I'm wishing everyone else a good time at your family reunion....WHERE ELSE...BUT IN RICHWOOD WEST VIRGINIA. See ya, Tammy

Would just like to say hello to everyone back home and would like to say how sorry I was to hear about the flood I remember the one in the 50's it was bad. Hope evryone makes out ok. I think of Richwood a lot and always get homesick in the fall of the year. It's a beautiful place to be from.

Just a quick hello to everyone from back home. With the Fall weather here nothing is more memorable than the color of the mountains on all my long walks. Hinkle Mountain was the most serene and beautiful place to spend time and its a fond memory. I do wish the economy was better so more people could live there. God bless you all!
