Enjoyed this site so much. My husband (John) and I both graduated from RHS, and attended Milltown. Donnie, (my Mother-in-law) is still on Spruce St., and we've got many lifelong friends still in Richwood. Heartfelt regret to all still effected by recent flooding.

I can only imagine the devastation of the November, 2003 flood. However, the pictures were so very good--like I was stepping in the water! Have family ties to Richwood, Carrie and Stu Brown, and the Stockwells were my aunt and uncle. Have been to Richwood many times in my life and I was just heartsick to see all that water flooding everywhere. Calhoun County had high water at that time,too, and many people had to leave their homes. However, I think the water there was more destructive. Hopefully people can get their lives back together and may God Bless.

The pictures of the flood made my heart heavy......I remember so well the '54 flood. I have many pictures of that flood taken by my father who was the owner and editor of the Nicholas Republican newspaper. I remember watching Dr. Bill McClung dive into the rough waters from the atop of Hewitt Motors, to swim to the hospital across the street, in order to deliver a baby! I will never forget having to get those awful "shots" to prevent possible illnesses! I love Richwood and will always think of it as "home" no matter where I hang my hat. My only regret is that my children didn't have the pleasure of growing up in Richwood..... a town full of love and heart. Hello to all the wonderful friends from Richwood!

I was born in Richwood, in "Little Italy" but moved to Holcomb at a very early age. Went to Dain grade school, and Fenwick, then Richwood High School, where I spent 4 of the best years of my life. I get back as much as I can, because it is the most beautiful area I have ever seen.

HI all. Great site! Was sadden about the flood but am greatful everyone was safe. You are all still in my prayers. I lived in Richwood until 95 and have a lot of great memories. Most will remember me as L. Woods. Richwood is a great place!

Great site! Loved all of the old pictures and recognizing many names from the guest book. My family owned and operated Prelaz's Restaurant - Best food ever! Would love to see pictures of it as Prelaz's and pre 1960 when it was called the Liberty Restaurant. Also would enjoy seeing pictures of the Rainbow Grill, Pics of Holy Family Grade School, the spring basketball games, and The News Stand. What a time. What a place!

Sorry it's flooding there, I am happily able to inform you the SUN IS SHININ' in North Carolina, been 90 most of the week. ( For November, that's unusual. ) Hope everyone is safe and sound! A big South Carolina hello to all my friends in West Virginia! I was sad to see the pictures of the flooding, but I know we've been there before and we will recover. It was fun sharing some of the other pictures with my friends and co-workers here and describing the places. Although my husband, Brian, (who by the way is a Richwood High School graduate like myself) and I call South Carolina home we will always consider places like Richwood and our hometown Craigsville home too. Hope to see my friends again aound the Christmas holidays! If you read this, I send my love and hugs and kisses from Lauren and Grayson too! I miss you!

Hi. So sorry about the floods in Richwood. Sure hope it gets cleaned up and come back together safe and sound. I grew up there, graduated in 1955 and love to come "home" for a visit after living away from there since graduation. Now live in Delaware, near the Ocean and love it. Love Richwood and it's people though. God Bless and take care of each other.
