Today I found your website, and I could not pull myself away. Seeing some of the old pictures brought back many memories, and also raised questions. My Grandparents, Arthur and Elizabeth [Sparks] Bailey, and their two grown children, moved to Richwood from the community of Persinger in 1938. They bought the house at 63 East Cranberry Street. One of the children was my Mother. Her name was Manella, but her nickname was Nellie, or Nell. The other child was Mom's older brother, Earl "Hickory" Bailey. Mom worked at the Pin Mill during the 40's (the world’s largest clothes pin factory), so the picture of Clothes Pin Factory Workers on your website drew my attention. I wish I knew when that picture was taken, but by the looks of it, it very well could have been in the 40's, while Mom worked there. I wish I could zoom in on some of those faces. Perhaps someone knows who they are. My fondest memories of Richwood are when Mom, Dad, and I traveled out there from Milwaukee during summer vacations in the 50's to visit Uncle Earl. Those were the best of times. The town seemd so alive and vibrant in those days. The whistle at the Big Mill really got your attention. When trains were leaving town, you knew it! The sounds echoed for miles around. I spent some time in Richwood during the late 50's and early 60's. I went to school at Milltown during that time. Clyde Marsh was the Principal then. Miss Hollingsworth taught 3rd grade, Mrs Booher fourth, and Miss Boso (I think that was her name) 5th. My Mom passed away January 19th 1960. She is buried at Mt View Memorial Park on Hinkle Mountain. My Uncle Earl passed away in 1987. I scattered his ashes at a place on Hinkle Mountain known to me as the Hickory Flats. An avid hunter, it's a place Uncle Earl often went to exercise his dogs. There is a shooting range there where we often went for target practicing. Thanks for the [good] memories, Richwood!

Liked to hear from anyone who remembers me, I lived up Little Laurelwhen younger, I see some of the people who use to live up Laurel and Richwood. Wondered what happened to all those people, be nice to hear from Maryann Foley, Annlea Hammons, even some of the fellows, maybe we could plan to meet at one of the Cherry River Festivals & talk about old times. I was born in Richwood in 1946. I believe that I still have family living in Richwood. I would be related to the children of Mildred and Jesse Blake, also to the children of Kathleen and Bud Barker. Mildred and Kathleen were sisters to my father Richard Glen Black. If anyone has any information on my family please contact me. Thank You. Nancy A. Petrycki, P.O. Box 46, Marienville, PA. 16239

We will be coming home to visit next week. I hope to see some familiar faces around town. I'm bringing a couple that haven't spent much times in the hills. This web site brings back many fond memories of the good old days growing up in the heyday of Richwood. Hope the class of "63 has a good time at their reunion. Gary
