The South Fork Lake project is within our grasp. On June 2, the Army Corps of Engineers will present the "Draft Plan" of the Cherry River Watershed Study. In this study, they will address: Life Saving Protection from Floods Protection of property from floods Water storage Hydro Electric Power Improved Aquatic Habit Economic Renewal and Development Tourism Four Season Ski Resort Jobs, Jobs, Jobs And much more! Help us spread the word. We need to come together to renew our community through the development of "South Fork Lake" in conjunction with a four season resort. Mary Jane Williams RHS Teacher
Our Richwood Back on Track Committee has worked hard over the past year to raise money to convert Richwood's Track and Field at Dean Memorial Field into a real, 6-lane, regulation rubberized running track and make necessary repairs to our football field. Currently we have raised approximately $318,000 and are only $27,000 short of our goal of $350,000. (In spite of over $35,000 in volunteer labor and materials, the price of oil inflated our overall costs as well.) We are in the process of rebuilding the track and need your help in generating the additional $20,000 to complete this project. The Nicholas County Board of Education has matched the dollar amount they gave to NCHS and we have turned to businesses and private individuals for aid in acquiring the rest. If interested, please go to our school website: http://rhs.nich.k12.wv.us and click on Back on Track. Mary Jane Williams RHS Teacher
